Atlas Security Armed Response Officer Cuffs Walmer Housebreaker
A wall jumper had jumped a wall in Walmer and stole a resident’s cellphone while she was working. The resident’s son gave chase in an attempt to apprehend the suspect.
The incident occurred when various units responded to a callout at about 4:00 pm after a trespasser was spotted on another property following a panic signal in Villiers Road.
The victim provided a detailed description of the suspect as well as the direction he had taken when fleeing.
Thanks to an alert neighbour, Atlas Security’s control room despatched multiple armed response vehicles after a panic activation was received. The description of the suspect from both the victim and resident matched the suspect on the yard.
Atlas Security Armed Response Officer, B89 responded to the information and apprehended the suspect on the corner of Villiers Road and 13th Avenue. The stolen cellphone was recovered and the suspect was handed over to the SAPS for further investigation and profiling.
A panic signal from a working alarm system, team effort, vigilance and fast response removed a criminal off our streets.
