The Woodlands community were alerted when residents noticed suspects stealing LED lights from a number of premises in the area. The one incident took place at 12:15 where three males were spotted in Lemorne Street. The suspects were seen looking over the boundary wall, they also tampered with the CCTV cameras by re-positioning them.
Another incident was reported at 13:32 where CCTV footage also links them to theft from a property in Lyon Crescent, Lorraine.
Shortly after 22:00, Atlas Security Armed Response Officer, B14 was at a business in Centenary Road. Equipped with the information and knowledge of the suspects – he was able to determine that the two men walking out of the store were indeed the same suspects who stole from properties in Woodlands earlier that day.
Atlas Security Armed Response Officer stopped the two suspects and while questioning them, he was able to positively identify them as being linked to the reported incidents. The SAPS were contacted and both suspects were arrested with stolen property on them. The suspects were taken by the SAPS to their home where more stolen items were recovered.
The suspects have since been linked to the mugging of a student while walking home yesterday which happened in Seine Street – confirmed by the victim. We’d like to thank our incredible Armed Response Officer, B14 for being vigilant and identifying the suspects. With Atlas Security we’ll ensure your world is secure in our hands!
