Atlas Security Bolsters Efforts In Sunridge Park

A collective approach to eradicating crime is at the heart of Atlas Security’s involvement in the community. Working closely with residents, SAPS, and the “Sunfern” committee, together with a multi-layered security approach using technology through CCTV and a DPS (Dedicated Patrol Service) Armed Response vehicle in the area has seen this area become one of the safest in Nelson Mandela Bay. However, as poverty and hunger escalate, so will crime. Nudging criminal activity out of one area means several other areas suffer, this means collectively we need to continuously revisit our strategy and position on tackling all criminal elements to ensure we are always one step ahead.

Atlas Security has had many successes in terms of the arrests of known and wanted suspects who previously managed to target multiple homes in the neighbourhood. Sunridge Park residents have experienced several incidents of crime in recent times from burglaries to theft and trespassing. Visibility and a pro-active approach are a huge deterrent for the criminal element, which is why it’s important to show this force. Our team, today, on foot walked the streets of Sunridge Park, this included the scouting of bushes along the valley where alleged trespasses have been seen entering the area. These efforts and manpower have increased during the early hours of the morning and “high risk” times.

Community Development Manager, Bernadette Nel-Naude said “We want to show we care, we want to show our concern and commitment, we take huge pride in what we do and in supporting communities, we have a massive amount of resource and extensive experience and we will not stop in using it in areas where there is a threat.”
