Atlas Security CCTV Camera’s nab suspected stock thieves
This morning a vehicle marked as suspicious on the local and national database used by Atlas Security was flagged by our CCTV cameras in the Paterson area headed towards Port Elizabeth.
Atlas Security’s control room notified SAPS of the vehicle’s whereabouts and direction it was headed in. Through a joint operation the vehicle was stopped near Kinkelbos.
The vehicle was loaded with livestock, that are suspected to have been stolen. The suspects left the vehicle and fled the scene, one individual was arrested after the dog-unit assisted in the search, another suspect has since been caught and arrested. SAPS are determining where the livestock were stolen from to return them.
Incidents of theft of livestock have grown substantially. Through Atlas Security’s network of rural CCTV camera’s, put up in partnership with numerous farmers associations, we are able to play a proactive role in combating crimes such as this.
