Atlas Security has noticed an increase in suspects gaining access through bathroom windows as it has become an easy access point for various reasons.

Intruders are realising that residents are leaving their bathroom windows open at night, thinking that small burglar bars will provide sufficient protection, while suspects are able to just push the cheaper burglar bars out and climb through. They also understand that there is rarely protection inside the bathroom, giving them time to plan their next move once they’re in, which could allow them to attack your alarm system itself and block the signal.

The lack of contact magnets on these windows are also providing opportunities, suspects are able to break through the window frame with nothing to activate a signal.

The first and simple step is to lock your bathroom windows at night. The second action to take is to understand the level of risk in that zone and what will provide sufficient protection (beams, magnets, shock sensors, CCTV, etc.)
