The Atlas Security Control Room reports that incidents are much lower than the previous weeks have been, with a total of 63 incidents being reported. This is great news for the community, but businesses need to stay alert as armed robberies have seen a sharp increase.
The drop in incidents cannot be seen as a sign that we can ease on security and awareness. We need to use this position to gain momentum in the fight against crime. Part of that momentum comes from opening cases with the SAPS.
Keep in mind that if you don’t open a case when you become victim to a criminal activity, the SAPS cannot deploy resources to your area if you don’t open a case, as according to the statistics that incident never happened. We can not say it enough, open a case for every incident, even if “they didn’t steal anything” the SAPS need to have an official record of it.
