Dear Nitrous Security client,
A standard alarm battery will not last during the implementation of
loadshedding over a number of days.
Alarm batteries charge at a trickle charging rate and takes longer to charge
back than the time that the power is on between stages.
This is not a problem during normal times when one power failure is
experienced and the battery charges back to its normal capacity.
Through our suppliers we have identified two options that will overcome the
Option 1: +-12Hrs back-up
3 Amp power pack with 2 x Gel 8 Amp alarm batteries.
R1500 all incl.
Option 2: +-20hrs back-up
5 Amp power pack with 1 x 8 Amp Gel battery and 1 x 18 Amp Lead acid alarm
R2200 all incl.
During a power failure an alarm system will still generate a low battery
signal. This is not a sure sign that the alarm battery needs replacement, it
is an indication that the battery is without electricity and could fail if
electricity is not restored again.
