This week, Monty Montgomery, Atlas Operations Manager, reports that criminals really pulled out all the stops. From armed robberies and home invasions to blowing up a safe, these criminals really mean business.
Armed robberies continues to be a serious concern. According to Monty, armed robberies are seen more frequently. This means that increasingly more residents could potentially end up in harm’s way. Monty especially warns shoppers to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings when out and about.
Next he warns that extremely dangerous and highly organised gangs making use of explosives are active in the Metro. Please be careful especially when you arrive on a scene. Do not enter unless the building has been cleared by the authorities.
He goes on to remind readers to always have at least one dedicated keyholder listed with Atlas Security. Please assist us to combat this trend by encouraging your keyholder(s) to accept our request of doing an internal inspection of the building. A mere perimeter check may be misleading, especially when suspects gain entry through the roof. When entry is gained this way, panel wires also often get ripped, preventing your alarm system from sending a signal to our control room.
Motor vehicle theft and hijackings remain a concern and the occurrence of both are on the rise. Be vigilant and stay focused on your surroundings at all times.
The prevention of home invasions – whether families are at home or not – should be everyone’s focus. Atlas is assisting to combat home invasions by speeding up our response times. Thankfully, this week, many of the intrusions resulted in attempted burglaries with little to no loss. Monty adds that there is a disturbing level of movement in neighbourhoods, leading to an increase in incidents. He urges residents to secure their premises as best as possible and to continue sharing information.
Monty also notes that new homes/buildings are extremely vulnerable. Please note that if the criminals see bricks/tools with no burglar bars in place, they will enter. They will even overpower whoever is on site. Treat security seriously from the beginning and don’t wait for something bad to happen first.
Lastly, a variety of crimes are taking place at the moment and Monty urges the public to now be more aware of their surroundings than ever before and to assist with the fight against crime. Be more vigilant and look after each other.
Stay safe and rest assured that your world is safe in Atlas’ hands.
