This week, Monty Montgomery, Atlas Operations Manager, expressed great concern regarding the negligence amongst residents in the Metro. A very important example would be residents allowing their pets to rule the security measures in their homes.
Monty urges all those who are subscribed to please take note of what is being said in the newsletters. Don’t let your pets dictate your security. Be realistic and make sure that criminals can’t enter your home and invade your privacy.
• Leaving your bathroom window open for your cat to enter/exit.
• Leaving you sliding door open for your dog to enter/exit.
• Opening your doors during the night/early hours of morning for your pets.
• Not arming you alarm – to allow pets to have free reign inside your house.
• Having a pet friendly alarm.
Vehicle theft and theft out of vehicles: We are once again creating our own problems. DO NOT leave any valuables in your car. A file could be mistaken for a laptop.
Home invasions: This is an ongoing crime with all areas being targeted. We are doing all we can to stop this crime. With the help of the Police, we are positive that we will get it under control and make plenty of arrests. Monty finds that the criminals who commit house robberies tend to enter where burglar alarms are not armed. They would enter via a window or door that has been left open / unlocked. They will enter silently and surprise you, therefore do everything in your power to keep them out and not have to wake up with them next to your bed.
He also warns that intruders are still targeting plumbing equipment at homes, copper being the most prized. Make sure you have sufficient perimeter protection, which is key, as suspects would obviously turn the water off to avoid creating a water fountain while gathering their loot. Be careful not to interrupt them by investigating outside while they’re busy with this crime.
Hijacking: These activities have increased and we urge you to be on high alert when leaving/arriving at your destination.
Staged accidents – be very careful that it’s actually real.
Cheap conversation with loiterers – do not encourage this.
Robbery of person: Far too many of our loved ones are attacked on their way to/from school. Take care and be observant while around schools, thus assisting with the curbing of this crime. Members of the community play a vital role by being their eyes and ears.
Lastly, ensure your alarm is up to standard. Check that you’re happy with your protection. If not, contact our office for an evaluation. Phone 0861 585 585 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Stay safe and rest assured that your world is safe in Atlas’ hands.
