Monty’s Crime Report: High Standards delivers results!
High standards and dedicated Armed Response Officers resulted in great arrests this past week as reported by Monty Montgomery, Atlas Security Operations Manager. “We have managed to prevent big burglaries resulting in minimal losses. Our aim is to live in a crime free Metro. This can only be achieved by keeping our standards high” Monty said.
“ I need to continue urging residents to be extra careful when shopping and walking around the streets. Do not entertain strangers. Most of the time they’re under cover and getting ready to strike. Teach your children to be alert. Teach them to be on high alert when they’re at/outside school. They are usually easy targets. Take a minute to think about your safety and the safety of your children. When collecting your children from school, please be aware of any unfamiliar activity or vehicles.”
Vehicles that are left unattended are being targeted – therefore theft out of motor vehicle has come up as a great concern. Please ensure that your children are aware of their surroundings and do not walk around with valuables, this entices the suspects to rob them – leaving your child traumatised and in danger.
Awareness: Your first line of defence. Most people think of kicks to the groin and blocking punches when they hear the term “self-defence.” However, true self-defence begins long before any actual physical contact. The first, and probably most important component in self-defence is awareness: awareness of yourself, your surroundings, and your potential attacker’s likely strategies. With muggings, hijackings and other contact crime on the rise it is important that you arm yourself with the correct weapons for effective self-defence.
Housebreakings were fairly under control. Remember to arm your alarm during the day/night. Keep your streets safe – the trick and secret lied in information sharing. Residents must be on high alert.
Business and industrial premises were hit hard this past week. After a burglary, Monty urges residents, business owners and key holders to come out to the scene as quick as possible. This is to ensure the safety of your goods.
Monty mentions that the biggest threat at the moment is armed robberies. He advises business owners to keep their cash flow low onsite. Plan smartly. Change your routine and refrain from keeping high value stock and money on your premises.
We are extremely grateful to the community, neighbourhood watches and the Police for their contributions in the fight against crime.
Lastly, we cannot warn you enough to be aware of what is happening around you. Incidents happen in a matter of seconds, if we can delay or eliminate these together – we know we are on the right path! Stay safe and rest assured, your world id secure in Atlas’ hands.
