This week, Monty Montgomery, Atlas Operations Manager, reports that festivities are already on the increase in the Bay with visitors flocking to our beautiful City. Port Elizabeth successfully hosted national and international visitors during the past weekend’s big sporting event and fortunately very few serious incidents were reported.
He reports that the school holidays had been relatively quiet and says he hopes that this is a good precursor for the upcoming December holidays. Monty urges those living near schools to always be observant and to report any suspicious behaviour.
Home invasions – Unfortunately the Bay is still being riddled with house robberies. Monty says it is essential to have comprehensive security measures in place to keep criminals out and that it is vital to have a lifeline, should the criminals manage to invade your property while you are at home.
Residents are urged to keep up their contribution to crime prevention in their areas. He says people should continue with proactively sharing valuable information. Monty strongly believes that many home invasions have indeed been prevented by residents who were alert and reported suspicious behaviour. If not for this, according to him, the total number of incidents might have been much higher. Stay sharp and keep house robbers out of your neighbourhood.
Monty proudly reports that many arrests have been made by officials from various security sectors, especially the Police. This past week some hardened criminals – including a murder suspect – were rearrested and placed behind bars again where they belong. The Police and private security companies are hard at work to keep our City safe from criminals involved with crimes ranging from petty to serious and everything in between. Monty commends all parties for the collective effort.
Armed robberies are out of hand at the moment and Monty says we all have to work together to mimimize this type of crime. Robberies at 24 hour shops are also on the increase. Be aware and be vigilant while out and about. Robbers tend to visit their targeted sites prior to striking. When you’re at your workplace, always look out for signs and report anything suspicious. Look out for your colleagues too and teach them to be more alert and safety conscious.
Theft out of motor vehicles and theft of motor vehicles are still far too high – let’s be sharp out there and do what we can to prevent this. When this crime takes place at home, your pets will normally give you an early warning when intruders are lurking around. Listen to them and investigate in a safe manner.
Outbuildings are being targeted at the moment. Where possible, link your burglar alarm to your outbuilding(s). Items of high value are often stored in outbuildings, making it very lucrative for the burglars. Monty reminds readers to check their perimeters for weak points. Ensure that your electric fence is in good working condition and that it is linked to your alarm system.
Monty requests all readers to assist Atlas Security and the Police wherever they can – especially when a property has to be inspected. Fast reactions will lead to more arrests. Atlas Security is on a mission to clean up the streets and we can only win with your assistance.
You can help by:
