Monty’s Crime Report: We need to watch them, while they’re watching us.
This week, Monty Montgomery, Atlas Security Operations Manager, proudly shares that joint security forces have had tons of success recently. Ranging from arrests (of wanted and syndicated criminals) right down to the retrieval of stolen goods. These successes can only happen through good communication channels, resources, technology and team work.
In conjunction with SAPS, we are working towards more successes in the second half of February, which can be attained through hard work and constant commitment.
Monty warns that home invasion culprits are always trying to get their way into your premises. They will try all the tricks in the book. One way of nipping this in the bud is to report suspicious persons and behavior. Suspects will always scout before they hit, and through reporting suspicious behavior, it makes them think twice as they then know that people are watching.
Secondly, he warns residents that intruders often wander through our neighbourhoods at night while we asleep without us knowing. They are scouting and looking for any opportunity to enrich themselves. Let’s be vigilant and report anything out of the ordinary, and also never entertain anyone trying to enter your premises uninvited as predators are full of schemes to gain entry.
Vacant premises – If your premises is left empty/unoccupied, ensure that you do daily checks on the premises. If you fail to secure it properly, the thieves will continue to burgle it and remove everything that’s worth selling – from wiring, copper piping to light switches, and right down to the doors. Monty encourages homeowners to notify Atlas about their vacant homes/businesses by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org , the more eyes and ears watching it, the better.
Another reminder: Do not feed the vagrants. Make them feel uncomfortable and keep them out of your neighbourhood.
Beware when jogging, walking, cycling as well as shopping. You are being watched specifically for negligence at all times. Theft out of motor vehicles and theft of motor vehicles are still ongoing as well as hijackings. Always remain vigilant.
Stay safe and rest assured, your world is secure in Atlas’ hands.
