Atlas’ Dedicated Patrol Services (DPS) is a proactive service which allows for regular patrols past your home either hourly or two-hourly, depending on the size of the area of operation. The regular armed response service is reactive – standing down at a point, and reacting to positive alarm signals from that point. A DPS vehicle, however – which is additional to the regular service, is required to patrol 24/7.

We have taken the decision to station the same officers in the same DPS areas, as this allows them to become familiar with you, your community, your pets, domestic employees, family and regular visitors. They can therefore easily recognise when someone or something is out of place within the boundaries of the DPS area. These special officers, in effect, become part of your community.

You enjoy the service of a dedicated team in our control room. All areas have their own number, operators and dispatchers who only man the DPS desk. As with the relationship with the officer, so the DPS controllers and the dispatchers too, develop a relationship with, you, their clientele.

At your request, an operator can patch you through to the DPS vehicle in your area, which will allow you to speak directly with the officer on duty.

Because the DPS vehicles patrol a finite area, which is smaller than the regular armed response perimeter, they are able to respond to your emergency faster than the regular response officers. We pride ourselves on the low response time of the regular officers, and so, the DPS times are diamond standard.

DPS officers get to know their areas well and will greet the residents and their families. They become familiar with the regulars to the area, and so are best-placed to spot any unusual activity. They actively ‘nudge’ this out of the area, by making their presence known.

You can request the officer (via control) in your area to meet you at your entrance if you are feeling threatened at all – he will ensure that you are safely in your home.

All DPS officers, as a pre-requisite, are required to have a level 3 First Aid Qualification. This allows them. apart from basic wound dressing and assistance with distress, do emergency birth deliveries, infant CPR and choking, and also keep your loved one or yourself safe until an ambulance arrives by utilising these skills.

All officers are required to have basic firefighting skills. Our DPS officers, however, carry both 1.5kg and 9kg all-purpose fire extinguishers. These have helped many clients – and saved their homes- which could have burnt to the ground were it not for the quick response and action of the DPS officer.

All Atlas staff are polygraphed pre-employment and randomly on a yearly basis thereafter. Response and control centre staff are polygraphed for specific incidents, where required.

We all want to know that our homes are secure when we are taking a deserved break. With DPS you can request that the officer do a special drive-by7 and/or check of your home while you are away.

We have partnered with Momentum Insurance Company Limited to provide a referral for our DPS clients. They have measured their risk and determined that our DPS areas are much safer, and therefore lower risk, than other suburbs. In essence, you stand to save your entire DPS fee in insurance, depending on your circumstances. As part of this relationship, they have also agreed to offer preferential rates to our DPS clients for other insurance products within their repertoire.

You will receive our regular weekly “Alarming News” newsletter as well as the exclusive “Word On The Street” on a quarterly basis. Word On The Street will keep you up-to-date with incidents in your area and anything topical in relation to crime.


What about price?

The price of the DPS service is added to your regular armed response and monitoring and is wholly dependent on the size of your area and the number of subscribers in the area. Of course, the more subscribers we have at inception, the lower the rate (within reason). Additionally, you could save the entire DPS portion of your fee by switching to Momentum Insurance Company Limited– for FREE.
