Residential Properties Are Becoming Targets
The Atlas security Control Room reports that residential properties have once again been the main target for criminals this week, with a high 60% share of total incidents, with the criminal hotspot for the week being Central. There was a decline in violent crimes last week but has made a return this week with a worrying 3 armed robberies, 1 hijacking and a robbery of person.
A trend that is starting to become a regular one is criminals waiting in the driveway and attacking the resident when they get home, be it assaulting the victim or smashing the window of the vehicle and grabbing whatever they can get their hands on. It is essential to know exactly what is going on around them at all times, we seem to relax somewhat when arriving home and lose focus as we look for the garage remote or wait for the gate to open.
It is at these points that you are most vulnerable. Ensure that you have limited hiding spots in your entrance area and keep it lit up at night. DPS clients are encouraged to use the Meet-And-Greet service which is included in their package. When you’re close to home you can let our control room know and the DPS Armed Response Officer will meet you at the entrance to your home to ensure that you get inside safely.
