Six Criminals Busted In Separate Weekend Arrests By Atlas Security Across PE
Atlas Security Armed Response Officers responded to a total of 20 incidents during the weekend. Monty Montgomery, Operations Manager said “suspects were arrested following an attempted hijacking, recovery of a stolen vehicle in St Georges, robbery of a person, vandalism on a property in Walmer, trespassing in Richmond Hill and a break-in in Sidwell.”
While patrolling on Friday evening, Atlas Security Armed Response Officer, B17 noticed a male running towards a stationary vehicle at a red traffic light in 5 Ways. The alleged suspect ran up to the vehicle which had one occupant in it, the suspect then attempted to force open the back door, which was locked. Noticing what was happening, the driver moved the vehicle forward, but due to oncoming traffic he was stuck. The suspect then ran to the front door and again tried to open the door. Atlas Security Armed Response Officer, B17 immediately approached the suspect and detained him. The SAPS were called and the suspect was arrested and charged with attempted hijacking.
In another incident, Atlas Security Armed Response Officer, B8, received information from the SAPS that a vehicle which was stolen was spotted in the St Georges Park area. Multiple Atlas Security Armed Response vehicles started searching the area and found the vehicle in Forbes Avenue, St Georges Park. The suspect was arrested and handed over to the Metro Police. The suspect caught was released on parole on Monday last week after serving time for house break-in and a theft case.
Our control room received a panic activation from a client in Newington road, Richmond Hill alerting us that a suspect had jumped into their yard, fast response by Atlas Security Armed Response Officer, B11 prevented a potential crime from occurring as he caught and arrested the suspect. He was handed over to the SAPS.
In Walmer, a suspect was detained following vandalism to a property in Main Road, the incident was also captured on CCTV. Another arrest was made after Atlas Security Armed Response Officer, B20 responded to an alarm in Mount Road. With the assistance of the SAPS a suspect was arrested after he robbed a person using a gas gun.
Operations Manager, Monty Montgomery said: “Our Armed Response Officers are committed to proactively fighting crime to ensure that criminals are brought to book. Our officers should be commended for going the extra mile in refusing to allow the suspects to get away.” We trust that these arrests sends a strong message to criminals that our team is vigilant and will continue to work together with the police and the community to fight crime across Nelson Mandela Bay.
