String of Business And House Break-Ins In Port Alfred Over The Weekend
Director for Atlas Security Port Alfred, Clinton Millard advised business and home owners to ensure doors are locked at all times and alarms are armed, following a spike of break-ins during the weekend.
Our team has been monitoring crime trends during the past few days and there seems to be an alarming trend of theft from homes and break-ins in areas where there is no protection or clients are not arming their alarms. This creates many potential risks, not only to you, but the area you live in, you and your home become a target, if you do not arm your alarm you indirectly create a weak link in the system, this creates major risk to the area as this could attract more unwanted elements in the neighbourhood.
A total number of 8 break-ins were reported in Port Alfred and two in Bathurst.
During the early hours of Saturday morning, our control room received an alarm activation from a business. Within 1 minute, Atlas Security Armed Response Officers, B205 arrived at the property to discover that there had been a break-in.
“When the officer arrived at the scene he found that the front door had been smashed, this gave them access into the property” says Atlas Security Port Alfred Director, Clinton Millard.
Atlas Security Armed Response Officer, B205 spotted the suspect fleeing the scene, he gave chase and caught the suspect. He was arrested and handed over to the SAPS.
Saturday our control room recorded a number of 4 break-ins.
