This week we are reporting on statistics from 6 to 12 September 2018.
In total 33 incidents were reported to Atlas Security in the past week. Of these, 26 were positive burglaries, 3 attempted burglaries and 4 armed robberies.
Even though the past week’s preferred points of entry were front doors, roof break-ins seem to be on the rise yet again. When suspects enter through the roof, they almost always attempt to rip the wires out of the panel, preventing your system from sending a signal to our Control Room once they are inside the building.
The most reported incidents happened on Monday morning between 00:40 and 05:40.
The highest trending items reported to have been stolen are:
• Plasma TV’s
• Hard drives
• Power tools
• Hard drives
The burglars’ most trending entry points were:
• Front door
• Back door
Hotspot for the week:
• Newton Park
This week, commercial properties suffered 66% of the reported incidents.
Four of the positive burglaries had no loss on site. 3 of these also had no entry gained into the premises.
Month to date, 6 arrests have been made. Five of these were made by Atlas Security Response Officers. We would like to thank the SAPS, Metro, K9 Unit as well as the community for assistance with cleaning up our streets and getting the criminals locked away.
Vehicle used in armed robbery:
• Green Mazda 323
The ARP (Atlas Roof Protector) is designed to detect intruders trying to gain access to your building though the roof. In order to detect roof break-ins and to help prevent a panel rip before our Control Room receives a signal from your alarm, be sure to have an ARP (Atlas Roof Protector) in place.
