• Plasma TV’s
• Cell-phones

The burglar’s entry points were:
• Front door
• Bedroom windows
• Roof

The below areas have had more than one incident in this past week:
• Walmer
• North End

This week, 55% of the total incidents took place in commercial areas.

11 of our positive burglaries had no loss on site.

To date, 20 arrests have been reported of which Atlas Security have made 10 of them. We thank the Metro, SAPS and K9 unit for their assistance. Monty would also like to thank all residents who have assisted in the arrest of suspects – thus showing their involvement and concern for their community.

We would like to encourage safety gates in and around your homes. We recently had an incident where entry was gained but, fortunately, not to a point where loss occurred due to a security gate being in place. A lot of homes have security gates leading to the bedroom area – this assists in a delay to gaining access to more valuable items that could be in a safe etc.

This week we had a few queries regarding complex gates. We urge all residents to adhere to the request of waiting before the gate closes. In the past it has been found that entrance gates to complexes, have been found to be standing open and upon further investigation by residents or security companies, something had been placed over the sensors which force the gate to remain open while a vehicle travels through. The only way this could be done is if the gate had not closed properly and someone stops it from doing so by crossing this sensor and then covering it in order to keep the gate open. Again, had the resident or visitor waited until the gate had closed properly, this would not have happened.
