In order to understand how a criminal’s mind works, one needs to do thorough investigations and notice trends in order to remain one step ahead at all times.

In the week ending on 24 October 2016, Atlas dealt with a total of 30 burglaries, of which 73% were commercial intrusions. Most of these occurred on a Sunday between 00:00 – 10:00. The highest-risk area was North End.

The above-mentioned burglaries resulted in 4 positive arrests and Atlas commends all involved on their prompt responses. A conclusion was established, that many of the arrests were drug-related and vagrants which form part of the usual syndicates that are still operating.

The most common entry points this week have been the roofs and front doors. Numerous incidents occurred in our commercial areas where a tool of some sort was used to cut a hole in the roof sheeting.

Atlas urges all alarm subscribers to probe and ask our Control Room Operators which zone has been activated. In many cases, a criminal will break-in closest to a store room, office or, in a residential case, a main bedroom. This is where most valuables are kept and therefore only one passive activates creating the impression that it could be a false alarm.
