Our dedicated Atlas Security teams were on high alert this past weekend, leading to significant arrests and a major step towards curbing copper theft in our community.

Over the last month, we’ve responded to over 20 incidents of copper theft. This Sunday night, our vigilance paid off:

3rd Avenue, Newton Park

A resident alerted our control room about an attempted gate motor theft. Within minutes, Armed Response Officers B152 and B117 were on site and successfully apprehended the suspect.

Summerstrand

Just before 3 am on Sunday, a call came in about suspicious noises at a nearby home. On arrival, our officers discovered nearly all the copper pipes and fittings stolen from the home's wall. Officer B83 spotted two individuals with the stolen copper piping. After questioning, the suspects confessed, were arrested, and handed over to SAPS.
