Arrest in Walmer: Suspects Caught Stealing Copper from Main Road Business
Crime

In the early hours of Monday morning, Atlas Security Armed Response teams Bravo 88 and B70 responded to an alarm activation at a business on Main Road, Walmer. Upon arrival, the teams noticed a wheelbarrow left in the front corner of the property, filled with copper wiring. This immediately raised suspicion.
While surveying the area, B88 and B70 spotted two men pretending to sleep in the flower bed opposite the premises. Acting quickly, both officers detained the suspects for questioning. Further inspection revealed that the copper wires had been removed from the main DB board inside a nearby building currently under renovation. The DB board serves multiple businesses on the property, and the theft resulted in a power outage affecting several operations, including the business where the alarm was triggered.
Additional investigation confirmed that four suspects were involved, but two managed to flee before our teams arrived. SAPS were called to the scene, and the suspects were handed over for further processing. The stolen copper was also transported to the police station as evidence.
This incident once again highlights how vigilance and rapid response play a vital role in protecting local businesses. Well done to B88 and B70 for their quick thinking and teamwork.
