Swift Response Leads to Recovery of Cloned Vehicle in Walmer

Crime

The evening of 5 January 2026 delivered a clear message.
Cloned vehicles will be found and stolen property will be recovered.

A suspicious vehicle was successfully detected and recovered following a real-time alert from Atlas Security’s CCTV infrastructure in Sixth Avenue, Walmer. The vehicle was flagged on one of Atlas Security’s CCTV poles, immediately alerting the Control Room.

Acting on this intelligence, Armed Response Officer Bravo 20 was dispatched without delay and located the vehicle stationary in Sixth Avenue. This recovery was the result of seamless coordination between CCTV surveillance, the Control Room and Armed Response working as a single, integrated system.

Further inspection revealed that stolen vehicle had originally been grey/silver and had been resprayed white in an attempt to disguise its true identity.

Armed Response Officer Bravo 20 immediately coordinated with SAPS, who responded to the scene.

SAPS confirmed that the vehicle was linked to theft and fraudulent registration activity. The vehicle was seized and booked for further forensic investigation.

This recovery highlights an important reality. Vehicle cloning is becoming increasingly sophisticated but it cannot outrun vigilance, intelligence and rapid response.

Atlas Security remains committed to working alongside SAPS to ensure stolen vehicles are identified, intercepted and removed from our roads protecting our communities every step of the way.
