From Walmer to Despatch: How Atlas Security Tackled Crime in the First Week of September
Crime

Between 1 – 7 September 2025, Atlas Security responded to a total of 100 incidents across Nelson Mandela Bay. Theft and burglary accounted for the majority of these cases, with 28 thefts, 17 attempted thefts, and 15 confirmed burglaries. Medical emergencies also featured strongly, with 19 cases where our team provided critical assistance.
The suburbs most affected during this period were Walmer (10 incidents), Summerstrand (8 incidents), and Sidwell (6 incidents). In contrast, areas such as Sherwood and Greenshields Park recorded just 2 incidents each.
The data also shows that incidents were more frequent in the early hours of the morning around 4am, as well as late morning (11am) and mid-afternoon (2–4pm).
At Atlas Security, we not only monitor these trends but also actively work with our control room, armed response teams, and community partners to bring these numbers down. Every incident we respond to feeds into our strategy, ensuring we can adjust patrols, deploy resources smarter, and provide a stronger protective presence in the areas that need it most.
Our team’s commitment goes beyond response; it’s about prevention, visibility, and building safer communities together.
