Four Minutes From Camera To Cuffs

Four suspects picked the wrong business on Thursday night.
Here’s how it played out at a vehicle dealership in Broadwood on 22 October:
🕙 22:02 A white rental vehicle reverses into the back parking area. Two men get out and head straight for the parked SUVs.
🕙 22:04 Our CCTV Control Room operators pick up the movement on camera and raise the alarm.
🕙 22:06 Armed response is dispatched while the control room watches the suspects force open vehicle doors and start removing a tyre.
🕙 22:08 Atlas Security Armed Response Officers Bravo 44 and Bravo 108 arrive on scene. The suspects try to look busy inside the vehicles. It doesn’t work.
All four suspects were detained on the spot, with a supervisor and further units backing up the scene.
Inside their car: a brand new spare wheel, a jack and a wheel spanner taken from the client, plus the tools they brought for the job. Bolt cutters, a screwdriver and a wheel spanner. Four of the client’s vehicles had their locks forced open.
The client confirmed the property was theirs, Walmer SAPS arrived and took over, and all four suspects were handed over and arrested. Their vehicle was impounded.
None of this happens without the cameras. Our AtlasVision CCTV picked up the suspects within a minute of them arriving, and our CCTV Control Room operators were watching every move while officers were on the way.
That’s the difference between finding forced locks and missing tyres the next morning, and catching four suspects in the act. An alarm tells you something happened. AtlasVision shows you what’s happening, as it happens.
This is what it looks like when everyone does their part. Eyes on the cameras, officers on the road, supervisors on the radio, a client who answered the call and SAPS on the scene.
