The Importance of Access
Crime

When your alarm activates, getting to your property is only the first step. Our armed response teams also need access to assess it properly.
A locked gate can prevent our officers from checking your grounds and inspecting doors, windows and other possible entry points for signs of forced entry. A check from the street alone may not reveal what has happened beyond your boundary wall.
Providing authorised access allows our teams to carry out a more thorough assessment and investigate potential signs of an intruder.
What can prevent our teams from getting in?
- High boundary walls and locked gates.
- Electric fencing and other perimeter barriers.
- Aggressive dogs or unsecured pets.
- Gate remotes, keys or access codes that are unavailable or no longer work.
- Gate motors affected by faults or power failures.
- Nobody available to open the property.
Make a plan before your alarm activates
Assign a trusted keyholder who can meet our response team and open your property when you are unavailable. They should have working keys or remotes, understand their role and be reachable when needed. Keep their contact details updated with Atlas Security.
Speak to our team about access solutions such as a Masterlock, a Masterlock and key safe combination, or an Easy Lock. These options can assist with authorised access, depending on your property and security setup.
Make arrangements to secure dogs safely during an inspection, and let our control room know about any access restrictions or changes.
A little planning now can help our teams reach the areas they need to check when it matters most.
