January saw Atlas Security respond to 258 incidents across Nelson Mandela Bay, with activity largely driven by theft-related crimes and medical emergencies. While criminal pressure remains present, the month also reflected strong operational outcomes, including 31 arrests, all handed over to SAPS.
Key Incident Overview
The most common incidents recorded during January were:
- Theft (108 incidents)
- Medical Emergencies (44 incidents)
- Burglary Attempts (41 incidents)
- Robbery-related incidents (27 incidents)
Residential properties accounted for the majority of responses, highlighting the continued targeting of homes, particularly during daytime hours.
Arrests and Interventions
Atlas Security teams effected 31 arrests during January. These arrests were primarily linked to theft, robbery, and attempted burglary incidents, often following rapid response or proactive patrol intervention.
Operational Reach and Visibility
Operational visibility remained high throughout the month. During January:
- Armed Response vehicles travelled a total of 288 226 kilometres
- RIU units alone travelled 20 507 kilometres
This sustained on-the-ground presence played a key role in deterrence, early intervention, and rapid escalation where criminal activity was identified.
When Crime Was Most Active
The final week of January, particularly 31 January, recorded the highest number of incidents. Theft was the dominant crime type on peak days
Areas Most Impacted
Higher incident volumes were recorded in:
- Central Gqeberha
- Mount Croix
- Newton Park
These areas continue to receive focused patrol attention and operational adjustments.
Operational Response
Atlas Security increased patrol visibility, adjusted response routing, and maintained close coordination with SAPS throughout the month. Proactive interventions and early detection played a key role in limiting losses and escalating incidents before further harm occurred.

On 15 November 2025, Atlas Security responded immediately to a panic alert from a client who reported three suspects breaking into a property at Hull Street.
