The most common incidents recorded during January were:

  • Theft (108 incidents)
  • Medical Emergencies (44 incidents)
  • Burglary Attempts (41 incidents)
  • Robbery-related incidents (27 incidents)

Residential properties accounted for the majority of responses, highlighting the continued targeting of homes, particularly during daytime hours.

Arrests and Interventions

Atlas Security teams effected 31 arrests during January. These arrests were primarily linked to theft, robbery, and attempted burglary incidents, often following rapid response or proactive patrol intervention.

Operational Reach and Visibility

Operational visibility remained high throughout the month. During January:

  • Armed Response vehicles travelled a total of 288 226 kilometres
  • RIU units alone travelled 20 507 kilometres

This sustained on-the-ground presence played a key role in deterrence, early intervention, and rapid escalation where criminal activity was identified.

When Crime Was Most Active

The final week of January, particularly 31 January, recorded the highest number of incidents. Theft was the dominant crime type on peak days

Areas Most Impacted

Higher incident volumes were recorded in:

  • Central Gqeberha
  • Mount Croix
  • Newton Park

These areas continue to receive focused patrol attention and operational adjustments.

Operational Response

Atlas Security increased patrol visibility, adjusted response routing, and maintained close coordination with SAPS throughout the month. Proactive interventions and early detection played a key role in limiting losses and escalating incidents before further harm occurred.
